Open Doors – Part 1: No One Can Stop You But You

Now that you know God has good things in store for you, how do you receive them?

Remembering God’s promises is key.

“I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close.”

The NIV version of the Bible says,

“I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.”

In the verse right before this, Jesus was talking about Himself when He said:

This is the message from the one who is holy and true,
the one who has the key of David.
What he opens, no one can close;
and what he closes, no one can open:

So we have two promises from Jesus:

He has placed an open door before you.
No one can shut it.

Why does that matter?

Jesus has made a way for you to receive breakthrough and blessing. He has opened the door and placed it in front of you so there are no longer any barriers between you and your destiny.
No one has the power to stop you from stepping through that door and receiving all God has for you.

The only way you can not receive the things God has for you is if you choose not to.

Satan, the enemy of your soul, knows that he can’t keep you from stepping into your destiny. He knows the only possible way for you not to receive everything God wants to give you is if you decide not to step through that open door.

But, as we’ve already covered, the only one with the power to prevent you from receiving God’s blessings is…you.

Satan has two main methods at his disposal to keep you from walking through the door of destiny:

1. Repeated and overwhelming brute force attacks.

He tries to make you so weary that you’ll give up or so distracted that you’ll forget about the door.

Here are some of his traps:

He makes you feel weary or exhausted.
He overwhelms you with fear, guilt, shame, or other desperate, soul-crushing emotions.
He sets enticing pursuits in front of you so you’ll forget the importance of your destiny.
He causes things to go haywire all around you so you won’t have time or energy to step into your calling.

2. Lies that trick you into choosing not to enter through the door.

He says things like:

That door isn’t for you.
God doesn’t really have great plans for you.
Only bigger, better people can do things like that.
You’re being arrogant. Who are you to have big dreams?
You haven’t gotten breakthrough yet, have you? That means it isn’t going to happen.
You’ve waited a long time and no relief has come. You might as well give up.
There’s nothing worth having on the other side of that door anyway.
If you go through with high expectations, you’ll be disappointed.

I want you to know that those are LIES.

God does have good things for you. God wants to give those good things to you. God keeps the promises He makes.

So when Jesus says He’s placed a door before you and nobody can shut it, that door is for you, and it’s up to you to cross the threshold and step into your destiny.
